Died December 19, 1918, McComb, Hancock County, Ohio.

Buried Union Cemetery, McComb. No Medal of Honor marker at grave.

Married Sarah A. Harris, February 11, 1864, at Charoltte, Dickson County, TN (b. May 26, 1846; d. February 4, 1929.)

Served with Co. G 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, August 19, 1861, three years. Mustered Co. G 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment September 19, 1861, Findlay, Ohio, three years. Discharged August 20, 1863; Captain Co. C 13th US Colored Infantry Regiment. Discharged January 10, 1866, Nashville, TN.

Saw action in Battle of Ivy Hill, Floyd County, KY, November 8, 1861; in Andrews Raid; at Battle of Nashville, December, 1864.

Captured April 13, 1862, near Ringgold, GA; escaped jail, Atlanta, GA, October 16, 1862. Recaptured October 17, 1862; paroled via City Point, VA, March 17, 1863. Declared exchanged June 21, 1863. Awarded Medal of Honor March 25, 1863, Washington, D.C. Acknowledged receipt of engraved Medal on November 10, 1863. Medal lost; duplicate issued July 30, 1894.

Pension of $40 per month activated May 11, 1914.
