Buried Union Hill Cemetery, between Perrysburg and Bowling Green, Ohio. Married Gretta Hale. Enrolled as Pvt. Co. C 21st Ohio Inf. Regt., Aug. 29, 1861, Findlay, Ohio, three years. Volunteered Andrews Raid. Discharged, Sept. 22, 1864, Atlanta, Ga., due to expiration of term of service. Saw action in Andrews Raid. Captured near Stevenson, Ala., April 24, 1862; escaped Fulton County Jail, Atlanta, Ga., Oct., 1862; picked up by Union gunboat, Gulf of Mexico, Nov. 10, 1862. Hospitalized Murfeesboro, Tenn., May and June 1863. Awarded Medal of Honor September 1863. Medal on display at Congressional Medal of Honor Museum, Patriot Point, SC. Pension $24 per month, No. 258,375. |
