Medal of Honor marker at grave. Local marker nearby indicates he was awarded second Medal of Honor after Parrott. Married Nancy L. Kelley, February 3, 1852, Wausau, IN. (d. November 27, 1905). Enrolled as Private I Co. 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, April 26, 1861, Elmore, Ohio, three months. Mustered as Private K Co. 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, August 24, 1861, Wood County, Ohio, three years. Appointed Sergeant, September 19, 1861. Discharged for promotion 1st Lieutenant Co. L 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, April 10, 1863. Promoted Captain Co. L 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, December 30, 1864. Discharged for promotion 1st Lieutenant Co.
