Settled in Oglethorpe County, GA, having been driven from East Tennessee by bitter Union sentiment. Later located in Acworth, GA, and was involved in the pursuit of Andrews Raiders. Moved to Lexington, GA, 1863.

Born January 27, 1824 to Jehu Stokley, England; and mother Neil Stokley, South Carolina, one of three sons and six daughters. Lived on French Broad River, one mile from Del Rio, TN.

Died February 19, 1890, Crawford, GA.

Married first time to Ann Moore; two sons. Married second time to Miss McConnell. Married third time to Miss McConnell. Married fourth time to Mollie Latimer Upshaw.

Listed with others for the Fuller Medal of 1950.
